Bio: I am an acrylic painter with many years of experience in art and graphic design, and about six years at my present focus. I enjoy exploring the way colors, textures and compositional form on interact with the human senses on a primitive level, testing the balance of reality and abstraction in the context of the Maine landscape. I try to impart to unpopulated visual spaces a sense of memory or anticipation that someone or something might inhabit them in the past or future. The viewer is also invited to enter these spaces mentally and emotionally. My work has been characterized as Expressionist Landscape. While I have never been totally comfortable with labels in general, this one probably fits best. Acrylic paint as a medium forces immediacy and speed in execution, which fits me both in temperament and lifestyle, as I balance the dual roles of artist and mother of young children.
